mexi & co

Hi guys !

I want to share with you one of my favorite restaurant which is « Mexi&Co », it’s located on 10 rue Dante, 75005 Paris, France. This restaurant is very close to Odeon district, where there are a lot of university students, especially on Saturday nights.

In fact there are not a lot of good Mexican restaurants in Paris, but this one is very good. If you want to enjoy your dinner in a very good place, this restaurant is perfect for you. The restaurant is not big but the atmosphere is very nice, for exemple you can see and buy all the ingredients used to prepare your meal. As you can see in the picture they’re put on shelves on the wall.

The staff is very nice and when you arrive they are very welcoming. Sometime, Mexican music is played, so it’s nice.

As every good restaurant, the dinner is not cheap but it’s not that expensive either, in fact the ratio quality-price is very good.

If you go to this place, tell us if you liked it, and what were your favorite dishes.

Enjoy your dinner.

Hi Guys !

Today i want to share with you a japanese restaurant that i really love, it’s called magokoro and it’s located 33 rue Lamartine, 75009 in Paris.

You have to know that in this japanese restaurant there aren’t any sushi and maki, but mostly typical japanese meals. For example  you can eat jellyfish or seabream marinated in kiwi.

The place is a llitle bit small  , so you need a reservation if you want to be sure to have a table, because this restaurant is often full . When you arrive, you are welcomed by the owner and the chef who are very sympathetic .

For me it is one of the best japenese restaurant I have been to , so don’t hesitate anymore, pick up the phone and make your reservation, you will not regret it !

If you tried it , let us know what you think of this place and your favorite dish.

Have a nice week food lovers !

What is durian ?

Hi guys ! 😀

I’m the Asian one from the group, and today i wanted to introduce to you an exotic fruit that i really love, it’s durian !
For those who don’t know, the durian  is the fruit of several tree species belonging to the genus Durio.
Regarded by many people in southeast Asia as the « king of fruits », the durian is distinctive for its large size, it can be as big as your head, its very strong odour, and formidablethorn-covered husk.
I think this fruit is the world smelliest’s one, maybe that’s why it’s not that popular toward Western people which are not always used to smell this kind of odour. It’s smell is really special, some people describe it as rotten onions, turpentine, and raw sewage which can disgust some you of you, but i don’t think it smells  that bad, to me it’s really sweet and even if its fragrance is really strong, it doesn’t bother me, it makes me want to eat it more ! Asians eat weird things, i know… but it’s so good, you should taste it at least once in your life ! Haha

There are so much other Asian foods that i’d like to show you, but it would be too long, so i’ll just let you watch this video 😉

Best colombo ever !

Hello food lovers ! Today we’re going to learn how to cook a Colombo, a traditional West Indian dish.

There are numerous recipes of Colombo, but it’s necessary to hold and respect some points which make of this dish an authentic Creole enjoyment : It’s important to use blend of cumin.
We never put curry in the Colombo but Colombo powder, that you can easily find in any exotic groceries.
The choice of vegetables varies according to the recipe, but potatoes are essential. You can add: zucchinis, eggplants, French beans (from Guyana), carrots, papaya vegetable, you don’t have to put a lot of vegetables, 3 are enough. You can also add tomato, but just one.
You have to let marinate the meat beforehand.

Ingredients :
– 1 chicken (free range chicken)
– 3 potatoes and 1 carrot (it’s optional)
– 2 garlic cloves
– 1 bunch of welsh onion
– 1 big onion
– 1/2 sachet of Colombo powder ( 4 dessert spoons)
– 1 dessert spoon of a blend of cumin: mixture of cumin, fenugreek, and yellow mustard.
– Fresh or dried Thyme
– 4 cloves
– 2 bay leafs
– parsley sprigs
– 1 lime
– 1 west indian chili
– Salt and pepper

For the chicken marinade:
2 mashed cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, 2 teaspoons of Colombo powder, 4 dessert spoons of vinegar, 2 cloves, 2 bay leafs, chili.

Preparation :
Cut the chicken in pieces. Rinse it a first time in water with vinegar to remove the excess of grease.
Mash a bit the cloves to spread their flavour. Marinate.
Brown the blend of cumin in a hen. Add the oil, welsh onions, onions cut, cloves, mashed garlic, thyme and bay leafs. Add the chicken pieces and brown it off by moving from time to time. Add Colombo powder and some water (with the chicken marinade) at the level of the chicken. Add parsley. Cover it and let it cook 15 – 20 minutes.
Cut vegetables in small pieces and add them to the chicken. Cover it and let it cook during 20 – 25 minutes over medieum heat.

When vegetables are tender, the sauce is thick and is removed easily from the hen, it’s ready ! You can serve it with rice 🙂

« Bon appétit » ! 😉
